The first cleanup of the Jewish Cemetery in Lodz in the 2022 season is over! Watchmen of Memory Association (Stowarzyszenie Strażnicy Pamięci) once again organized a volunteer action of cleaning the cemetery on Bracka Street.
On May 8th, a volunteer action of cleaning the Jewish Cemetery in Łódź took place. Thanks to the involvement of the permanent staff of the Association and Ms Agnieszka Sęk, a teacher from ZNP Primary School in Łódź, who organized a group of young people and parents from the Polish Teachers Association School (Szkoła Związku Nauczycielstwa Polskiego), Primary School No. 125 and Primary School No. 143, the spring cleanup turned out to be another success. More than 60 people of all ages devoted their Sunday to taking care of the area of the biggest Jewish metropolis in Poland and one of the biggest in Europe.
As the organizers point out, the action of cleaning is not only cleaning, but it is also an opportunity to meet the history of the people who built the splendour of the city of Łódź.
“Today they are not among us, but we are. And it is we who can bring back their memory.”
– they emphasize.
